Wine Tastings

In the past the Algarve was a region where many vineyards had their place. However in the 80's many vineyards were sold or taken out of business due to tourism taken over. But once again the Algarve is reviving the vineyards and not without merit.

Throughout the Algarve you will find serveral vineyards that you can visit with a concentration of them in the Silves and Lagoa area. If you are a wine lover or just want to learn more about wines, why not pay a visit to one (or all) of them and have a tasting and/or tour at a vineyards.

Close to Quinta das Maravilhas you can find some great vineyards, just to name some of them:

Cabrita is located in Sitio da Vale near Silves you will find this winehouse where they not only make their own wines but also produce the wines for some other winehouses. A tour in the vineyard going into the adega and get an impression of the work behind the scenes before you go into a tasting to your selection of their beautiful wines.

Arvad, located on the river bank of the Arade near Estombar has maybe one of the most beautiful views of vineyards in the Algarve. The nice and cosy place has beautiful terraces, or when the weather is chilly a beautiful tasting area from which you can see the fields and river. In the cellar you may have a look at the impressive amphora's in which some of the wines are made. Tastings of your selection are accompanied by a wide range of cheeses, charcutterie and local specialties to go with the wines.
